New QuickSpots Version Helps Assess Accuracy of Antibody Array Data

QuickSpots version 25.9.0.7 is ready for download. This update includes the following improvements:
- The experimental Noise Estimate Compensation feature from version 25.9.0.0 has been replaced with a more concrete method of assessing the accuracy and significance of your array data. The new Ranges feature adds a value range bar to the graph of each spot pair value. Ranges can be determined in one of two ways:
- The values of the individual spots in each pair can be used as the endpoints of the ranges.
- A noise estimate can be calculated based on the differences between each of the spot pairs on the array. If the noise estimate is greater than the actual difference between the spots in the pair, the noise estimate is used. If the difference between the spots is greater, the actual spot values are used. This method provides a range that is more likely to cover the true value of the protein being measured, since it expands only the narrow ranges, which are more likely to occur if both spot values happen to be either too high or too low.
- When displaying differences between individual spot values (rather than the spot values themselves), the difference is now computed based on the pair average from the base data set instead of from the corresponding individual spot. This results in more meaningful values, since it no longer matters whether the first or second spot on each of the arrays being compared is the more intense of the two.
- When drawing a box around the array in an image that you wish to measure, past versions of QuickSpots have required the box to be drawn starting at the top-left corner. This version enables starting from any of the four corners.
