Retraining Computer Vision ML Models Shouldn't Be So Hard

You have a computer vision task to perform, and somebody has created an ML model that's almost perfect for the job ... but not quite.

Maybe it knows how to recognize every breed of cat in the world, but you need it to recognize dogs. Maybe it recognizes celebrity faces, but you need it to recognize your employees.

The good news is that high-quality ML models can be retrained to recognize different things than they were originally trained for. The bad news is that repurposing a model (a.k.a. "Transfer Learning") typically involves installing Python (making sure you install the right version,) installing a bunch of Python libraries (again, making sure you have the right version of each,) writing a bunch of code to edit the structure of the model, and then even more code to retrain the model using your images.

It shouldn't be that hard.
